Neumann University

Neumann University is a private Roman Catholic, coeducational liberal arts college sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. It is located in Aston, Pennsylvania, USA within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Neumann University is described in the Regional University (North) category at the undergraduate level in 2014. It is ranked 332nd in the Best Nursing Program and listed with an unpublished rank Best Physical Therapy Program categories at the graduate level by US News & World Report for 2011.〔(USNews.com: America's Best Colleges 2014: Regional Universities (North) Rankings )〕 It is also ranked by US News & World Report as second in the publication's list of the top 10 colleges that lead to graduate school, with 71% of graduates pursuing higher education within one year after completing their bachelor's degrees.〔(USNews.com: 10 Colleges That Lead to Grad School )〕 The Princeton Review has listed Neumann University in its "Best in the Northeast" category.
==History and Academics==

Neumann University was founded as Our Lady of Angels College with 115 female students in 1965 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. The name was changed to Neumann College in 1980 in honor of Saint John Neumann, a former Bishop of Philadelphia. Neumann achieved "university status" from the Pennsylvania Department of Education in 2009. Today, there are over 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at Neumann, and over 10,000 alumni. The student:faculty ratio is 14:1. Neumann University has an acceptance rate of 71% ((The College Board )).
The University's liberal arts curriculum is fully accredited and centers on a wide range of majors and minors including Accounting, Anthropology, Art, Arts Production and Performance, Athletic Training, Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Communication and Media Arts, Computer and Information Management, Criminal Justice, Education (including Early Childhood, Elementary, Special Education, & Secondary Education), English, Environmental Studies and Education, Foreign Language Studies, Franciscan Studies, History, International Business, Intelligence Studies, Journalism, Liberal Studies, Marketing, Musical Theater, Natural Science, Nursing, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Theater Arts, Theology, Writing, Sociology, Sports and Entertainment Management, and Youth Ministry. In addition to these majors and minors, the Division of Arts and Sciences provides specialty programs such as Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Law, Pre-Medicine, and the University Honors Program.
Graduate programs at both master and doctoral levels are offered in (Clinical Pastoral Mental Health Counseling ), Education, and Physical Therapy. Graduate programs at the master level include Accounting, Nursing, Sports & Entertainment Management, and Strategic Leadership. Neumann also offers an associate degree program and an accelerated bachelor's degree program for adults.
